Ikat, also known as Ikkat, is a patterning technique that uses a resist dying process similar to tie-dye on either the warp or weft fibers. The design is not applied to the completed fabric's surface or physically woven into the cloth. Instead, before dyeing, segments of the warp and/or weft threads are covered with a resist. Ikat fabric is a terrific way to bring a fresh appearance to your house and apparel, with colors and designs that range from subtle to startling, traditional to modern.
